Good to see Ellerby on line. Many happy memories of the place, visiting from Withernwick as a teen. The village that was the home of the founding of the infamous Ramblers Skiffle Group, lock ins at the Railway when it was just a nice little village pub, and Sunday afternoons sitting at the bridge on Lambwath Hill chatting up the Hornsea bound cyclists from Hull.

Well done on this wonderful website. We live in Mulberry Lane and were wondering if there is anything we can do about the amount of cars and motorbikes speeding through the village, eg police with speed gun if possible. Not sure whether this could be possible, but we feel it is long overdue. Many thanks.

I am interested in the Railway Tavern at Ellerby. This website says it was built 1872 but I have Helen Grassby in the 1871 census. I am interested in the Grassby family.

Thank you for the correction Bev, and good luck with the family history - Geoff.

We are wishing to put forward the idea of an open garden weekend this summer in aid of charity. My suggestion would be the Daisy Appeal based at Castle Hill Hospital. We would be happy to provide cream teas (if given some assistance and loan of crockery & garden future!) I am hopeful that other residents of Ellerby would be keen to open their gardens. And also think opening our allotments behind The Railway would be a good idea.

Thank you for your suggestion, which I have forwarded to the Parish Council - Geoff

Hi, my name is Pauline and I now live with my family in Sydney. My maiden name was Ellerby and I grew up in Hull, where many of my family still live. Ellerby as a place has always fascinated me. Sadly, my father, John Andrew Ellerby, passed away in February and in his memory I would love to obtain a copy of the Ellerby Station photograph on this website. Thanks, Pauline.
